Running For My Life

This coming March will be two years since I started running. It was quite life changing for me, because after several years of struggling to lose 20 pounds, it was {finally} the solution that would jumpstart my health and fitness journey. A program I would recommend for anyone insterested in taking up running would be Couch 2 5K. I also started a running group on Facebook called Let's Run that has many expierenced runners that I've been able to learn from. I have enjoyed being able to run with my husband, and it had helped us not gain that dreaded "newlywed weight" that sometimes comes with the first year of marriage. :)

I love the challenge that running is. It is just as hard mentally as it is physically, if not more so! There are times when I am miserable in the middle of a run, but the feeling afterward makes it beyond worth it every time. I also love the fact that to be a runner requires no talent. ANYONE can do it- from kids to grandparents. The key is being CONSISTENT and of course I am preaching to the choir. My busy schedule gets the best of me when it comes to fitting in exercise way more than I would like, and the winter months just increase the "good" excuses.

The first race I did was last year on the 4th of July! Holidays are fun and memorable days to run on.

We just did one on Thanksgiving Day. It was fun even though I didn't train for it!

God designed our bodies to run. Cardio and weight training can transform your body. Set small goals for yourself if you're just beginning an exercise regimen. If your write them down, you are way more likely to do them. Sign up for a 5k next year! What you invest your money in is what you will make a priority so don't be afraid to commit. We have already signed up for an Eggnog Jog on New Year's Day. We want to start the year on a healthy note, putting our best foot forward;) My goal is to run a 10k this year. Whatever you want to accomplish in 2015, tell other people so you are accountable.

Wishing you a happy & healthy new year!

❤️Stephanie
